Student Leadership

We encourage leadership and acts of social responsibility within our Student Leadership Council.

All children at Lunt's Heath have the opportunity to suggest ways of improving the school or the lives of others. In our school we have School Councillors in all classes from Year 1 upwards who meet collectively once a month. Children in Years 1, 3 & 5 vote for their class representative on the School Council and the members then elect a President and Secretary. Members usually stay on the Council for 2 years.

Having won the Community Education Award in 2017 for the Nadiya Hussein Anti-Racism Bake Off and 2019 Drive on Plastic campaign, this year the children have written a Climate Change Manifesto containing a set of promises to help the environment. (see attachment below)

The campaign to help the environment has got off to a great start. The School Council invited  Councillor Margaret Horabin, Mayor of Halton, to launch the school Manifesto. The School Council welcomed the Mayor with an assembly about the manifesto, explaining in detail the promises of Lunt's Heath Children, Staff and parents. The children enjoyed questioning and chatting to the Mayor, she gave the children support on what to do next and how to gain support from the wider community and other schools in Halton.

From discussions with the Mayor, the School Council invested time on how to make a positive impact on the environment. They invited the local MP, Mr Derek Twigg, to discuss what could be done to spread the word about pollution.

This year, they have been discussing the new school values and characteristics, lunch time games and where they would like to go on trips and visists.
