Year 1 Curriculum
We work hard to ensure your child's transition from Reception into Year is a smooth one.
By now your child is ready for year 1 and has been prepared for their move into their new classroom and new routines.
The Year 1 curricuclum is more structured than before and the children may sit at a table for longer than they have been used to while continuing to learn in a variety of ways be that as a whole class, as small groups or independently. These changes prepare them well for their journey through Key Stage 1 and helps them to develop a firm foundation for the road ahead.
Year 1 marks their first year of the National Curriculum which, like all year groups, has government statutory schemes of learning to follow which can be found here. Your child will continue to be assessed throughout the year to ensure the correct support and guidance is offered to ensure they reach their potential.
